Google Cloud needed a visual identity that felt both distinct and deeply connected to the broader Google ecosystem. While the brand carried strong recognition, its B2B-focused visuals lacked the warmth, inclusivity, and flexibility required to resonate with a wider audience. The challenge was to evolve the illustration style and motion logic in a way that communicated progress and innovation while remaining unmistakably Google. From concept to character design, every visual decision was grounded in brand strategy, ensuring the refresh was built for everyone.

The Approach: Momentum Made Visible
To achieve this, the refreshed identity centered on visual elements that signal clarity, trust, and forward motion. At its core, the Google Cloud logo remains the anchor of the system, representing reliability and forward-thinking solutions. Extending beyond the logo, the Progress Bar, derived from the same DNA as the Super Cloud icon, became a subtle yet powerful presence across assets. Serving as both a literal and symbolic cornerstone, it reinforced continuity and momentum, appearing everywhere from white papers to banner ads and embodying the evolving story of Google Cloud.

Execution: Refining The Visual Language
With this foundation in place, the illustration style was elevated to better serve a B2B audience. Moving beyond Corporate Memphis, the team introduced a more conceptual and refined visual language. Grounded characters, limited palettes, and editorial-inspired compositions were used to simplify complex ideas while maintaining the warmth, clarity, and optimism of the Google brand. This evolution created visuals that were both sophisticated and approachable, allowing Google Cloud to communicate advanced concepts in a way that was human, clear, and unmistakably part of the Google ecosystem.
